Nine Inch Nails, San Francisco

Here’s a poster I made for tonight’s NIN show at the Bill Graham Civic in SF.
24” X 18” 6/C screen print with a high gloss red pass, printed on Cougar natural.

Main edition and Mirror edition, in very limited numbers will be available at the show.
Artist release will be this Friday 12/7 at the Z Store.





NIN has always conjured specific imagery for me. Their music is confrontational and turbulent but layered in mystery and detail. It's distressed and fragmented, but meticulously and thoughtfully composed and complete.

I love the weather and balance and subtlety and composition and degradation in Russel Mills artwork for NIN. In many ways, this piece was inspired by his work. The Kanji brushwork on the lower left was made for me by the renowned, traditional Japanese calligraphy artist Soyamax.

This is not a Tree.
This is a Swedish Dish Cloth.
Swedish people are smart.

Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 6 PM – 9 PM



Memento mori (Latin: “remember death”) is the theory and practice of reflection on mortality, especially as a means of considering the vanity of earthly life and the transient nature of all earthly goods and pursuits.

The group exhibit at Star Gallery NYC will showcase the work of dozens of prominent artists’ personal explorations of this theme. The Specials and Me.

I've always loved The Specials. I used to steal my sister's album and lock my door play 'A Message to Rudy' over and over and over... And now all these years later, I was somehow invited to do a poster for one of their shows. How cool.

Naturally, all I could think of was Black and White, Rude Boy, Checkers. I think all that goes without saying, but it sort of transformed from there and became what it is... Friends Emek and Shepard Fairey each made amazing posters as well for various shows.

Over the past months, I've been working on a new Iggy Pop print collaboration with legendary photographer Paul McAlpine , who over the past several decades has captured iconic images of so many incredible artists.. Iggy and Bowie, Freddie and Debby, The Stones, Queen, The Cars, Aerosmith, The Runaways.. Damn.... The list goes on and on.

On October 25th, we will be releasing our 5/C Iggy Pop screen print, entitled, "California '88" at the Haight Street Art Center in SF, where Paul will be giving a slide show, answering questions and signing his new book, Iggy Pop: BARE and REAL.

I love working on prints for the Black keys. This will be my third. For the Keys, I always try to channel a pre-war delta blues era kind of vibe. This one follows the theme of their new album, "Let's Rock" An incarcerated and shackled prisoner, heavily vignetted, early Hollywood style movie poster, littered with references to the album and ready to hang in the dark, candle-lit walls of your favorite dungeon chamber.
