South Park x Zoltron - 25th Anniversary Poster

Here's a couple of serigraphs I made for this funny little cartoon's 25th birthday party.

South Park | Primus | Ween

They're calling it "Zen Kyle"... Although I see it more as an experimental transcendent, life-altering experience for the young man, fro-afloat in a profound existential moment, surrounded by psychedelic doves and ultrasonic lightwaves, unencumbered by expectation, an open vessel for self-reflective lessons from the universe...

Or maybe he's just meditating.

What an absolute honor to once again work with my friend, the legendary photographer Paul Mcalpine who captured this iconic portrait of Debby Harry in 1978. The background is an homage to the band’s pivotal NYC roots. Debbie, Chris and Clem. (It’s part of an ongoing series of portraits and gig posters which began with editions of Iggy Pop and Nadya and Iggy Pop )

Prints will be available for purchase at the merch booth from any upcoming Blondie show (until they run out) with a limited artist release at the Z Store following the tour.

Thank you Debbie and Chris, Tommy, Cathy and Erin, Mauz and of course Paul. Dream gig.

The 10th annual Supersonic Art invitational closes Saturday Aug 27th 2022 in Los Angeles at Gallery at 2754 La Cienega Blvd.

This is a piece I made while working on the official tour serigraph for the Blondie's 2022 east coast tour.

The main image is based on an iconic 1978 photo of Debbie Harry by Paul Mcalpine and created from hand painted test screen-prints and studio scraps while I was working on various backgrounds and compositions for the tour print. The background and half-tones are from an early iteration, an homage to the band’s 1970s and 80s NYC roots.

Framed in distressed redwood floorboards from my old house, antiquated, stained and sealed in a matte finish.

Here’s silkscreen poster from Iggy Pop show at the 600 person Regent in L.A.

His new band, The Losers are the insanely talented Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Jamie Hince (The Kills), Duff McKagan (Guns and Roses), Andrew Watt (All around super heavy).

I made a new poster for each show on the West Coast tour, which will be unveiled the day of each show between April 20th to April 29th.

I worked closely with my friend Paul McAlpine and pulled from a series of incredible photos from his multi-decade Iggy archives. This epic capture is from the 1977 Idiot Tour (with a keyboardist named David Bowie)

For each show on the tour, we chose a source image photos from various IGGY eras, 60s, 70s, 80s all the way up to recent tours with Joshua Homme and the Post Pop Depression dream team.

Artist editions will become available following the tour.

Fans can purchase copies of the book, have it signed by Flynn and Tanner, and tour an exhibition curated by Flynn of rare Residents posters from their half-century history.

In keeping with the Center’s mission to honor the city’s rich history of poster art, the event will be commemorated by a new poster, designed by noted Bay Area artist Zoltron, which will be available for sale.

“My very first published poster was for The Residents on Halloween in 1996 at The Fillmore in San Francisco. Fast forward 25 years and here we go again," said Zoltron "It all feels very fortuitous... I was born in San Francisco. The Residents have giant eyeballs. I love The Haight Street Gallery. And I got a free copy of Aaron's book. The infamous and enigmatic tendrils of The Residents work in mysterious ways."

Ween 30th Anniversary Chocolate and Cheese

Ween called. They requested a limited edition poster to accompany the 30th anniversary re-release of one of their most iconic albums, Chocolate and Cheese.

I combed the Ween archives for references from the era, repurposed Dean and Gene's lyrical notes, then recreated our iconic model's body. For the next week, I locked myself in a dark room of solitary confinement, spoon fed myself ample portions of gouda and cacao, and proceeded to listen to the album on repeat and incessantly scrawling my lyrical adaptations like the insane musings of an imprisoned serial killer.

“Sue Nami; An Apologue of the Apocalypse”

"Somewhere, lost in time on a dusty shelf, in a faraway cabin in the woods, there was a book. Not an ordinary, musty old book filled with boring words and aging parchment: It was a new book. A magical book, unparalleled in it's size and bound from a mysterious leather, carefully harvested from the vegan roots of an unknown mythical plant.

Embossed on the tactile, black and glossy cover was a familiar skeletal sprite, a playful spirit of past and present and a harbinger (of things to come). Her name was Sue Nami and she would protect the pages within.

And there between the engraved covers, lovingly sealed in the translucent pages inside, was an ever evolving collection of thoughtfully created and beautifully printed pages, each containing a complex story, a unique narrative, completely exclusive to the owner of each book. It was said, that if other books existed, the contents therein would never be the same.

And so, with Sue Nami's help, it would become the solemn duty of the keeper of the book to ensure that each leaf of parchment from the rotating contents inside would be carefully considered, that each page therein was cared for and loved that every paper corner and edge was assured protection, and that the images inside were shared with friends and family, easily displayed for all to see until the end of time..."

TRPS called. They wanted a serigraph to celebrate the most most undeniably awesome poster event in the known universe.

Festival of Rock Posters
Saturday October 19 2024
Hall of Flowers in Golden Gate Park
San Francisco, California

Editions have Sold Out. Thank you. ❤

For this piece, I wanted to make an unapologetic tribute to TRPS and that fearless generation of San Francisco underground pioneering artists that gave us Psychedelic Posters and Zap Comix and paved the way for the rest of us to follow… plus in the 70s my teenage brothers fed me hash brownies so it’s a self portrait of sorts.

TRPS is The Rock Poster Society.

They formed with a singular purpose to honor the rich history of the Rock poster medium, while celebrating and supporting artists. They are also really good at acronyms. Their Artist Relief Trust (ART) was created to fundraise for artists in need, which is exactly what this poster will be used for.

Posters will be sold at the event on Saturday October 19th.
100% of sales will be donated to the ART fund and used for all things good.

Each year they host the esteemed Festival of Rock Posters at the befitting Hall of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. So many friends and poster & print legends new and old, emerging and established squeegee-pulling heavyweights from around the world have been involved over the years. It’s quite an honor. 💀🖤
